A Pathology Cancer Expert Retests Her Cancer

and Reviews Her Medical Care

Expert cancer pathologist Dr. Rajiv Dhir was hired through an attorney to retest the cancer biopsy of Lori Ann Reigert, to confirm the newly discovered diagnosis of Clear Cell Sarcoma by Dr. Bastian and to review the medical care of Lori Ann Reigert by her doctors and hospitals.

Dr. Dhir’s Report

Through his laboratory test results and his comprehensive review of Lori Ann Reigert’s medical records, Dr. Dhir concluded:

  • that the correct cancer diagnosis of Lori Ann Reigert was Clear Cell Sarcoma Cancer, in agreement with the diagnosis of Dr. Bastian.

  • that in using the SAME microscopic analysis that her pathologists Barcelo, Keep and Honda had used to diagnose melanoma he was able to confirm her correct cancer diagnosis of Clear Cell Sarcoma cancer. He stated that “it is well known that Clear Cell Sarcoma and Malignant Melanomas can have very similar light microscopic and immunohistochemical features”.

  • that by using the well known Fuorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) test, which can distinguish melanoma from CCS, he confirmed that she did not have any melanoma and that she did have clear cell sarcoma cancer.

He stated that the diagnosis of “Malignant Melanoma” cancer for Lori Ann Reigert was questionable without any known past or present melanoma skin lesions and “(that) should have alerted her pathologists (Drs. Barcelo, Keep and Honda) to perform the Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) test” to rule out the rare, known mimic of melanoma cancer, Clear Cell Sarcoma.

He specifically stated that “in the absence of a documented history of malignant melanoma it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to assess the lesion using additional molecular tools (fluorescent in situ hybridization – FISH test) and to DEFINITIVELY establish the exact nature of the malignant neoplasm”.

  • that the TREATMENT for Clear Cell Sarcoma cancer is COMPLTELY DIFFERENT from the painful melanoma immunotherapy Lori Ann Reigert was given and, therefore, THERE WAS NO CHANCE FOR SURVIVAL for Lori Ann Reigert when her Clear Cell Sarcoma was NEVER treated, causing her certain death.

He specifically stated that “The treatment of these two entities (clear cell sarcoma and malignant melanoma) is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and obviously SIGNIFICANTLY impacts outcomes” and “the patient received therapies for malignant melanoma WITH ASSOCIATED SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS”.

  • that through his review of Lori Ann Reigert’s medical records and his laboratory analysis of her cancer specimen, Dr. Dhir determined that pathologists Drs. Barcelo, Keep and Honda WERE NEGLIGENT in diagnosing the WRONG CANCER of Lori Ann Reigert.

He stated that “In summary, the overall approach (of pathologists Barcelo, Keep and Honda) IS NEGLIGENT and DOES NOT meet the expected standard of care, in this context IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED MEDICAL MALPRACTICE”.
